Friend,

Right now, we are at a turning point in history; the future lives of millions hang in the balance, and what people do or don’t do, and what they do and don't support, really matters. Here are some of the many answers we got from prisoners about what they're doing: sharing the unique revolutionary perspective of Revolution (revcom.us) and other articles with other prisoners and family and friends “outside the walls”.  Every week, Prisoners Revolutionary Literature Fund (PRLF.org) sends hundreds of packets of revolutionary and other literature to prisoners across the country, as part of “Turning Prisons into Universities of Revolution”. We are able to send these packets only because of generous donations from people such as you.

* “…the most interesting thing about ‘Rev’ periodical (Revolution, revcom.us – PRLF) is the conversations it starts…”
* “I do my best to encourage other prisoners to read PRLF, because not only will it change their lives, it will save their lives.”
* “After I read them I send them too people in [solitary] as well as some in the Aryan brotherhood who are not aware of who John Brown is or was a white man.”

PRLF Mission Statement:

Prisoners Revolutionary Literature Fund (PRLF) is an educational literature fund that fills requests from U.S. prisoners for revolutionary literature.

The main requests received by PRLF from those behind bars are for complementary subscriptions in Spanish and English to the online newspaper Revolution (https://revcom.us), the works of Bob Avakian (Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA) and for revolutionary and other books, including ones highlighted in Revolution. Through providing this literature, PRLF provides an educational opportunity for prisoners to engage with world events and key political, cultural, and philosophical questions of the day from a unique revolutionary perspective, including discussions of morality, religion, science, and the arts. Every week prisoners can delve into the urgent and lively news and debate about unfolding political and social struggles, and can critically think about and dissect the current state of society as well as search for an alternative.

PRLF works to counter increasing censorship that seeks to deny prisoners access to Revolution newspaper and the other revolutionary literature requested.

* “I let everyone within fishing line** distance read, I’m in SHU” (solitary)
* “Yes, I do [encourage them to subscribe]. The reasons I give them, I just take them through your books, mostly BAsics.”
* “I’ve always passed them on to other Brothers. I even sent the Tulsa History to my girl so we could discuss the parallels of the hatered then to now: it’s still quite the same…”
* I share my articles with my mother & big brother, my big brother did time in prison & my mother is about the people, she want to know everything. My mother told me she can tell recom.us have change my preceptive.”
* “Is there more I can do for the cause? Also is there a way to get more books so I can donate copies to the library and hand out?”

----------------------

Here are ways you can contribute to the Mission of PRLF (see box above).
1. Donate $100 to send 10 copies of the Constitution of the New Socialist Republic of North America (link) to prisoners. Bob Avakian authored this Constitution, which codifies how a radically different society will be run, in all its dimensions.
2. Donate $200 to send 20 copies of BAsics, from the talks and writings of Bob Avakian to prisoners. BAsics speaks powerfully to questions of revolution and human emancipation. Too often, it gets destroyed by guards and has to be replaced.
3. Sustain PRLF regularly to help fund the $3000/mo. for printing and mailing of the weekly revcom.us and other articles.
4. PRLF literature goes from hand to hand, prison to prison and jail to home and back again. Following this example, please forward this email or write a letter to friends and family to  tell them about PRLF and the pressing need to expand this work.

----------------------
Through revcom.us and other literature, PRLF brings prisoners “deep to the bone” news of the world as it is, analysis of why it’s that way, and strategy for how they – with millions more outside the prison walls – can create a radically different world for its 7+ billion inhabitants, one in which people would truly want to live.

Your donations are critically needed. Thank you in advance.

** ”fishing line” is slang for dropping a string with a hook on it to other solitary cells in order to pass notes or reading material.

Please forward this email to friends/family who might also be interested in PRLF.
